wateroftyne Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 Hello! Picked this Japanese beaut up on a whim the other day, because you can't have too many Sunburst Precisions.... right? Spec... Jazz neck, oval tuners, light weight (8½lbs, thanks to the basswood body, which is surprisingly pretty). So far, the usual cliches apply. It's very resonant, balances well, feels great, it's rich and punchy... I'm gigging it on Boxing Day, and as ever the proof will be in the (Christmas) pudding. I'll report back.. 49 Quote
ezbass Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 Ooh, lollipops (or Fisher Price as Bobby Vega called them)! Nice. Quote
gary mac Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 Love the dark, rich looking fretboard timber Michael, lovely. 1 Quote

wateroftyne Posted December 22, 2023 Author Posted December 22, 2023 Cheers, all! Yep, the board is a beauty. The more I play it, the more I like it. Quote
Misdee Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 What a stunning bass! The 'burst is beautiful. It's very contrasty, just like the best Fender Custom Shop finishes. P Bass with a Jazz neck is always a bit of a treat, too. That looks a very good purchase. I hope you enjoy it. Quote
Grahambythesea Posted December 23, 2023 Posted December 23, 2023 Someone seems to have scribbled on the back of the head, so I think you should send it back. Seriously one of the nicest Precision’s I ve seen in a long time, wish I had it. Quote
walshy Posted December 23, 2023 Posted December 23, 2023 Sounded great yesterday and damn its pretty too Quote
Cosmo Valdemar Posted December 23, 2023 Posted December 23, 2023 That is absolutely stunning* *apart from the tuners 😄 Quote

Marc S Posted December 24, 2023 Posted December 24, 2023 Love that dark fretboard, and the colourful, contrasty sunburst finish. Looks absolutely lush! Happy NBD Quote
joeabass Posted December 24, 2023 Posted December 24, 2023 Never heard of these but the specs sound perfect for me. Im guessing there’s not many about over here? Quote

bassbiscuits Posted December 25, 2023 Posted December 25, 2023 I’m pretty sure there was a white/tort/rosewood one of these in Bass Bros earlier in the year. I don’t know who the signature guy is but the bass looked ace. Quote

Ian McFly Posted December 25, 2023 Posted December 25, 2023 I find this amusing that someone would have such bass as their signature model. It is literally the most banal Precision ever. Rosewood/sunburst/tortoise. Meeeehhhh. But enjoy it dude Quote

ead Posted December 25, 2023 Posted December 25, 2023 Whilst appreciating that this is a signature model where I guess anything within reason goes, did many P basses come with lollipops as I normally associate these with the J basses? Quote
wateroftyne Posted December 25, 2023 Author Posted December 25, 2023 Just now, ead said: Whilst appreciating that this is a signature model where I guess anything within reason goes, did many P basses come with lollipops as I normally associate these with the J basses? No. A few one-offs back in the day, but that's it. 1 Quote
