Hi all,

Are there any (sound) issues stacking a cab on an empty flightcase ? I want to bring the cab closer to ear level but have heard there might be issues putting bass cabs on empty (hollow) boxes ?

I don’t have the case but also don’t want to have one made if stacking on top actually detracts from the sound lol

Any advice/experience welcome .. guru Bill probably a knows 😀

I`ve done this and didn`t really notice much difference other than easier to hear it of course. But my sound at the time was quite trebly/aggressive so I wasn`t focusing on the low end and any lack of this.

What cab is it?

I play with a guitarist who uses a fold up step to raise his cab.

You can also get stands that angle the cab upwards. Probably less bulky to carry around than a flightcase.

The only potential issue with lifting a cab by any method is some loss of boundary reinforcement from the floor, but it has to be a good meter or so before it becomes apparent, and then it's in the midbass that causes boom, so it can be an improvement. If this case is the one you're hauling your cab in using it as a stand is a good idea, as it also gives you a place to store it while playing.

Thanks guys .. I’ve two MAS26 cabs so I’m thinking of having a custom flightcase built to house both, if I start gigging again which is a possibility :)

I use this adjustable/ foldable stand to give my c115t some height. A custom case as you suggest for your cabs will do the job though.20221029_221705.thumb.jpg.7b93426f441129178ccb6146a7392cb7.jpg
