uk_lefty
Hi everyone. The band are trying to persuade me to try IEMs. My singer has a transmitter, a Shure PSM200, and he uses a P2R receiver. If I get a P2R and some headphones I can also go wireless IEM with a few limitations that I can live with. Here's the question.... The P2R is discontinued but I can see P3R and P4R units for sale second hand. Does anyone know if they will work with the PSM200? Thanks! Bassman68
Providing it’s all operating on the same frequency, I can’t see there being a problem? I’ve used alternative brands…Sure,Sennheiser etc together before now & (providing the channels/frequencies are the same) not experienced any issues.

The PSM200 is utter dog, especially for bass - due to its compander. It sucks out all the low end and makes the top end quite shrill. Don't base your move to IEMs on this unit!
uk_lefty
Wowsers. This whole IEM business was making me uncomfortable anyway due to the astronomic cost. This thread is helping me waste my money on more basses and effects rather than IEMs that I REALLY don't think I need!
EBS_freak
IEMs are great, if you get it right, you’ll never want to play without them. Just don’t throw money away. Have you read the IEM bible?

Have to admit that while I'd happily take a good set it they were given to me for free it's the thought of spending astronomical money on them that is the main thing putting me off. EBS_freak
You can get an ace setup for under a 100 quid.

I have been for 18 months now, absolute game changer for me (especially as I sing lead vocals too)

Not a great deal more than £100 (I know it is a slippery slope but...) the Sennheiser IE100 (£85) + Behringer P2 (£49). I liked the KZ10's but the physical size/shape/bulk didn't suit my ear and I couldn't quite get a good seal (others manage fine); whereas the IE100 were a lot more comfortable, sealed and had a more pleasing tone. You could go wireless with the Lekato units but we really are heading off into territory where you may as well read every word of the IEM Bible. uk_lefty
Thanks everyone. I've already got the Behringer P2 for "silent" practice at the drummers house and I use my Ashdown Meters Headphones with that. I was thinking something wireless would be better, it's a bit clumsy with the cables. I don't wander off often but found going wireless on my bass really liberating and don't want to go back to being hardwired to something, and this is where the cost concerns are!
