TheGreek
I'm watching the HRC concert in Hyde Park - Mr Simon in responsible for some great songs. Does anybody cover any?
AndyTravis
I taught a neighbour “You Can Call Me Al” the other day - he’s a guitarist depping on bass for an events band. Bit brave…especially the solo… We ended up talking for a bit and I rattled off about 4 songs (basslines) from Graceland - really was a formative album for my playing. I’ve never covered any of them. Did hear a band murder YCCMA at a wedding last year - horrific.
Franticsmurf
The band I'm with does 'Sound of Silence'. And, of course, if there was ever a problem on stage that resulted in a delay starting a song one of the band would always announce that we'd just played Sound of Silence'. 😀
Mykesbass
Never covered any but would love to have a go at this one: The band are sensational - got a CD of them performing as Stuff at the Montreux Jazz Festival.
Mykesbass
Oh, and the original 80s Central Park reunion is an exceptional concert IMO.
Jackroadkill
I'm trying to sneak on into our band's setlist. Bridge Over Troubled Water would be a favourite but I don't know how well it would sit alongside Breaking The Law or Los Angeles Is Burning...

I guess it would depend on the subtle nuances you bring to the arrangement. 😄
Mickeyboro
I saw the S&G Story last year. Paul looked like Rishi Sunak!
MacDaddy
Used to do 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover. Great bassline. Currently doing The Lemonheads version of Mrs Robinson.
lonestar
Used to do Call Me Al and Diamonds on the Soles of her shoes in a previous band, despite not having a fretless. The bridge pickup on a Jazz worked.

Does anybody cover any? I guess it’s inevitable that my acoustic duo gets many requests for S&G stuff. We do ‘The Boxer’, ‘Mrs Robinson’, ‘Homeward Bound’ and ‘59th Street Bridge song’. We’ve done BOTW a few times too. In my last band we did ‘You can call me Al’ (which I despised as I could never nail the bass solo!) and also my favourite Paul Simon tune ‘Late in the evening’ with the great brass figure. On our last duo gig someone asked us for ‘Baby Driver’ which we have down to sort, and I fancy doing ‘Keep the customer satisfied’ too, another great song. Not difficult to make that rock.
bass_dinger
My former ukulele group did "Me and Julio..." complete with the two different overlayed strumming patterns at the intro, and a whistled solo. The bassline is a masterclass in minimalism - the note before the chord changes, the note of the new chord, and.... rest. Breathe. Wait. I am also learning Gone at Last. It is in C, three chords, and the minor 6th in the outro - should be easy.....

Not many bands around here would even consider it.
