How about you buy a friend/wife/husband/partner some nice bass bits as a generous gift. If they don’t use them and you just happen to have a bass that could be improved by the unused parts, then you could borrow them without having to buy any additional parts. Not only would you still be in, but it prevents wastage and therefor global warming!
Downunderwonder
I bought a clip on tuner. But only because my pedal tuner died. Still in!
BillyBass Posted Saturday at 22:29 Share Posted Saturday at 22:29 @neepheid I'm not a member of the legal profession but I'm struggling to see how buying tuners would not be a breach of the rules. I myself have been a very good boy. I've flogged a fair bit and have only bought strings all year. Nevertheless, I can see a fiver coming my way for Christmas. "Exceptions - direct replacement (or as near as possible) of faulty/stolen gear." - if the tuners are faulty it would be legitimate to replace them. Probably. Richard R Posted Saturday at 22:34 Share Posted Saturday at 22:34 I dithered about buying the Warwick Alien 5 string that was posted in the marketplace last week, and now it's sold. So I'm still in.

Do it, once you get the sensible use case of being able to walk out front to check the live mix, you can go have fun. A heap of folk being sticks in the mud and staying through in the lounge bar? Go and annoy them! I once went on a walkabout round the entire bar for a laugh. People listen with their eyes...

Yes, same here. Even better when you can get round behind a group of people and take them by surprise. I also don't like having a lead decide to wrap itself around my feet, or treading on leads, so I went wireless for everything - rehearsals, gigs, open mics. Most of the time I use a Lekato WS-50 or WS-90 - 5.8GHz, dongles each end, good battery life, cheap.

Just shelled out for a Shure GLXD16+. If it arrives when Gear4Music say it will - not always a given - it'll have its first outing at next weekend's gigs. Though I'll be taking cables along, just in case...

BillyBass
I have just paid a deposit on a new bass, to be delivered in about 2 or 3 weeks time. So I'm out. That I have lasted, almost, until Christmas has surprised me.

In just over 2 weeks a lovely Reverend Mercalli 5 string, that weighs just under 4 kg will be sent to me, by the good people of merchant city Music in Glasgow. My Christmas present from wifey.

It goes from when the order is placed. I have something on back order, slated to arrive at the end of January next year. Because I have paid for it this year, that would goose me for this year (if I hadn't already KOed myself anyway back in May), but I will not be disqualified next year when it arrives. ezbass
The last time I bought any gear at all (a classical guitar) was 7/12/23, near as dammit a year. This must be the longest I’ve gone without buying anything, it doesn’t feel right 😬.

This was bought for you as a gift? Unsolicited (as in not a case of "go and buy this for me so I can get around the rules")? That's your get out clause then. During my successful year, Mrs. Neepheid bought me a bass (a Reverend too, from the same shop, oddly enough) as a spur of the moment, unsolicited gift.

She asked me what I wanted and I decided I would have the Reverend fiver. I called them up a couple of hours ago and put the deposit down and will pay the rest after my next credit card bill on the 5th or 6th of next month. Basically, the present is: she is giving me permission to buy it and chipping in the £299 deposit. Your wife is a star. My wife wouldn't have a clue about the basses I want/like. Thanks for the clarification. Yes, if you're paying for some of it then it's time to bow out. It's been a good run though. Mrs. Neepheid is a star, but she does not know that much about basses - she took me round the guitar shops, and when I found something I liked she said well, I'm getting you this. She knew I was "aff it" - I thought I was just going round having a look for the sake of having a look!
