I’m going to try, aside from strings and works needed I’ve got everything I need so fingers crossed I can last this one out.

That quite happily worked for the first few years. But there is such an interesting variety of basses, different  choices of tech, design, priorities,  thought processes. 

It's not like a clarinet or a violin where the design is fixed.

 

That's my excuse,  and I'm sticking to it!

I’m wondering if a bow for a DB counts? Picks don’t and it’s not a huge leap to see the correlation. Asking for a friend ;).

A bow is OK. So are ribbons, stickers, and flowers. 

 

But you will feel a bit daft at Symphony Hall with a DB looking like that.

How about seeing if you can get to the end of January by not browsing pedals?

Well I messaged to buy the pedal…

 

It had sold minutes earlier - should’ve jumped on it last night as I planned 😂

Faulty how?  What machine heads are you replacing and what are you replacing them with?

I guess they wear out ergo are consumables.  Can you get them replenished, or do you just get another one?  I have no idea - never played bowed instruments.  I've seen violin bows with hairs hanging out of them before...

Bought a bitsa. They slip every full turn (on 2 strings).

 

have replaced with a second hand set off an 80’s Tokai.

I'm gonna say that I think that falls under replacing something that's broken, and seems like a reasonable like for like replacement.  I reckon you're still in.

Holy effing hell, I had a look at double bass bows and nearly fainted at the price of some of them!  I bloody hope they're not consumables!

I don’t think so, the hair is though.

In that case, I think a bow is gear, the hair isn't.  That's my 2p, other opinions welcome (please do - I'm not the sole arbiter of this whole charade!)

Just done my tax return.

If I've got this right then HMRC owes me the nice @Andyjr1515 single cut that's for sale in the marketplace 😃

 

Or more likely  the cost of the roof repairs following the high winds. ☹️
