NancyJohnson Posted January 1, 2024 Posted January 1, 2024 I dug out my FBIV yesterday, primarily for a quick service/set up. Man alive. It's been in the case for about a year. Still in tune. Plays as beautifully now as it did when it went away. 4 Quote

Chienmortbb Posted January 1, 2024 Posted January 1, 2024 The trouble is that if you only have a Hamer, everything looks like a Nial. 1 2 Quote

zbigniew Posted January 2, 2024 Posted January 2, 2024 Hi, I got this Hamer Chaparral 1991 last year and it's a very good bass. I'm not playing out much so I haven't tried it yet with a band. The pickups are not original, it was like this when I got it. z 4 Quote
NancyJohnson Posted January 2, 2024 Author Posted January 2, 2024 My Cruise bass. Yummy. I was thinking about moving this one on, but it's just too nice. 6 Quote

Doctor J Posted January 2, 2024 Posted January 2, 2024 Another 91 Chaparral here. Fabulous thing altogether. 4 Quote
NancyJohnson Posted January 2, 2024 Author Posted January 2, 2024 I remember someone selling one of the B12 12-string basses on here years ago, kind of Jeff Ament spec (matte black). I just didn't have the money, it was bonkers cheap at something like £1.7K. I think about it quite often and wonder where it ended up. Quote
cetera Posted January 2, 2024 Posted January 2, 2024 (edited) Oh go on then, I'll play 😉 I have a Hamer Scarab, white and just like the one Rick Savage played with Def Leppard around the Hysteria time.... I also have 3 (yes, three!) incredibly rare Hamer Impact basses. These were designed with Kip Winger and are amazing looking and sounding instruments... One in black marble, one in red and one in copper.... Love them all! Edited January 3, 2024 by cetera 7 1 Quote
Misdee Posted January 2, 2024 Posted January 2, 2024 I've never owned one, but I remember when the original Cruise Bass came out in the very early '80s and it got rave reviews. I longed for one at the time but alas it was way out of my price range in those days. Quote
Brian18242 Posted January 2, 2024 Posted January 2, 2024 (edited) Always loved the old hamer 4 string, Dug Pinnick played. Would love to get a reverse headstock bass with a p pickup. Edited January 2, 2024 by Brian18242 1 Quote

That would be the Hamer Scarab. This was the bass that got me into bass. I would dearly love one of these but for two reasons 1) far too expensive (and scarce) these days, 2) I only play 5-strings now. I still very much have a soft spot for these basses. Mark 1 Quote
cetera Posted January 3, 2024 Posted January 3, 2024 (edited) Yep, that's what I meant.... I was already thinking about the Impact basses while typing about the Scarab. I've edited my original post.... Edited January 3, 2024 by cetera Quote
police squad Posted January 4, 2024 Posted January 4, 2024 I had a scarab once. It played really nice but I never got on with the sound. I'd love to try it again now, now I understand things better (I'd only been playing about 7 years, I was gigging 4 times a week in those days but didn't really understand what made things sound different) Quote
MacDaddy Posted January 4, 2024 Posted January 4, 2024 My old Hamer Blitz bass. Sounded like a Precision on steroids and looked as cool AF 😎 It was just too big for me 😔 3 Quote
Gnermo Posted January 5, 2024 Posted January 5, 2024 I own a fretless Hamer, not sure which model 3 Quote

I was trying to get a scratchplate cut for my Cruisebass; no intention of screwing it in, just double-sided tape. I've not been able to facilitate a schematic of the plate. Quote
