Kirstie Posted January 1, 2024 Posted January 1, 2024 Hello I have inherited an Arnold Hoyer Session 001 Bass- does anyone have any idea what it might be worth? I've tried researching but a real.mixed bag of info on them- it's in lovely condition. I also have a Warwick Alien, 2 Wal basses and a Zon legacy and a Gibson amongst others!. Thank you. 1 Quote
JoeEvans Posted January 1, 2024 Posted January 1, 2024 Have you just inherited this whole collection, or just the Hoyer? Quote
itu Posted January 1, 2024 Posted January 1, 2024 The top looks exotic, and nicely carved (note the slap'n'pop shape between the neck and the pickup). Electronics include XLR output, so this has to be handmade and high quality, Alembic style. Price has been far over £1000. Check this out for the FB pages: Quote
Bassassin Posted January 1, 2024 Posted January 1, 2024 That looks to be a remarkable - and desireable - collection of high-end basses you have inherited. You're in the best place to find information about them - what the BassChat hive-mind doesn't know isn't worth knowing. 1 Quote

Bolo Posted January 2, 2024 Posted January 2, 2024 (edited) I'm sorry for your loss. Whoever left you these must've been a person of great passion and dealt with his interests with intelligence. Regarding the Arnold Hoyer: apparently a German company that produced around the early 80s. There's a bit more info on them on German sites, like this ad: https://www.kleinanzeigen.de/s-anzeige/arnold-hoyer-sg-bass-shortscale/2629935523-74-7700 And a search on the German version of Bass Chat: https://www.bassic.de/search/1556726/?q=Hoyer&o=relevance Edited January 2, 2024 by Bolo Quote
pineweasel Posted January 2, 2024 Posted January 2, 2024 The current owners of the Hoyer brand have a history of the marque https://www.hoyerguitars.com/about/#h Quote
Steve Browning Posted January 2, 2024 Posted January 2, 2024 A Hoyer Les Paul was rather famously brandished by Bill Nelson on the back cover of Axe Victim, the debut album by Be Bop Deluxe. Apparently, Stuart Adamson was such a fan he tracked it down. It was eventually sought out by a group of fans and presented back to Bill. 1 Quote

Owen Posted January 2, 2024 Posted January 2, 2024 Sorry for your loss. I hope the community here can help. We are that geeky that there is nothing that the collective mind will not be able to discern. 1 Quote

Kirstie Posted January 3, 2024 Author Posted January 3, 2024 I also have this Brian Moore, serial number is M01066845. I've emailed Brian Moore about it. Any other info welcome, thank you. Quote

The Brian Moore looks like an i2000/i4 model which appears to be made in Korea & from the early '00s. Can't quite tell from the pic but yours may have been de-fretted. https://www.iguitar.com/i2000Bass/i2000Bass.asp https://reverb.com/item/490517-brian-moore-i4-i2000-2001-natural-4-string-bass-neck-thru-w-ohsc 2 1 Quote

AndyTravis Posted January 5, 2024 Posted January 5, 2024 Whereabouts are you based @Kirstie maybe a helpful basschatter could visit and give you some idea on sales/values etc? Some shops may (or may not) be unscrupulous enough to try and have you over… 1 Quote

There are very few bass specialists around, and it looks like you have quite a valuable collection there, especially with two Wals. Quote
