Pea Turgh Posted January 3 Share Posted January 3 Hello. Just received a pack of 3 shims from eBay - 1, 0.5 & 0.25 degrees. To the naked eye, they all appear to be a consistent thickness. Is that right? Should my (admittedly not very good) eyes be able to detect a very slight difference end to end? Anyone else bothered buying something similar able to confirm?! tauzero Posted January 4 Share Posted January 4 I bought a similar set. I only wanted to use the 0.5 degree one and I thought there was a taper on it. I've got the 0.25 and 1 degree ones here - just checked them with digital calipers and they're flat, so maybe I was wrong about the 0.5. Oh well, take the 1 degree shim, stick it to something flat with some double sided tape, and sand it down at an angle - DIY shim. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

You would have to be a bit of a drunken monkey to miss that if you use any sort of measuring method. By eye, not so sure.
