JazzyJ
Well, 2023 was pretty much a write off what with the band of 6yrs folding and illness on my part. So back to decent health and missing the gigs, I advertised my services on Bandmix and have a meeting / audition with an 80's cover band tomorrow. Looking forward to it. 👌
Woodwind
Good start, nice one! JazzyJ! I don't want 2024 to be a complete repetition of 2023, which although not bad per se, very much had the feeling of a "new normal", so different types of gigs and different ways to present my music. I will have to do everything I can to build on the successes and progress to feel like things have a momentum again, as they did pre-pandemic.

MacDaddy
I would love to be in an 80's cover band, one that did the image and everything 😁 Good luck!

JazzyJ
I've only gone and got the position. Great set of blokes, 58-62yrs old and I'm the oldest. Best get those Duran Duran albums out. Thanks for your kind comments folks.🙂

Rich
No worries, there was plenty of great non-slap stuff in the 80s. A wealth of wonderful material. (Can you tell that the 80s are my favourite decade? )

Rich
Good list, not too much slap on there at all. Do you have any keyboard ability? Some of those are crying out for a bit of synth bass. Pick up a cheap Novation and away you go.
JazzyJ
One of the band members is on keys/ synth so will work round things with him. Rehearse every Thursday 10am till 2pm, that suits me fine 🙂
Jackroadkill
There are some great tracks on that list. I'd come and see you play a set like that! 2

When the keyboardist originally suggested Gold, I was sceptical, but I loved playing it, still do (I play along at home).
NHM
congrats on getting the gig. It's always exciting when you get the play list, and you've got lots of great songs there. Looks like you're in for a lot of fun.
police squad
nice one JazzyJ, some great numbers there I've been doing 80s now for 5 years and you must put Vienna in your set, always goes down a storm near the end of the 2nd set usually I can get the whole place to sing AAAHHHHH VIENNA. you'll need an Aria SB of some description (if you can take the weight lol) There's couple in the for sale section you'll love it mate, great bass work in most of the 80s stuff
Rich
A Tune Bass Maniac or one of its Bass Collection clones would work well too. Lighter than an Aria but still a real 80s vibe.
