Vox Standard bass defretted - *SOLD* £70 DIDCOT, OXON

Vox Standard Bass. Defretted. 

As shown in the photos,  I  modified the headstock to 3+1 so it fits in a normal gig bag,  also as I had trouble reaching the G tuner!

The body is stripped to bare wood,  and being Butcher block construction, has a few shrinkage cracks at the edges,  but is still very solid. 

Excellent DiMarzio p-type pickup (standard from new) and nice fretless tone. 

The neck is quite chunky,  and overall the bass is hefty,  at around 10lbs.

This is an inexpensive way to dip your toes in the lovely warm pool that is fretless bass. Collection only please.

Can I ask if you move the bridge closer to the pickups or if it was like this by design? Is it comfortable to play? Thanks!

This is the design. I  think the  body is like a  normal p bass routing,  but with a 24 fret neck the bridge has to go forward. 

I  used it extensively in the 80s in a punk-funk type band.  I'm really short and did find it a stretch to first position and  tuning. Most normal sized folk would be fine!

I've got someone coming to see it tomorrow, so it may not be around long... maybe it's priced too low?

Thanks for the reply. I understood now! Well I guess it seems in good conditions, and could be a great bass for a starter. As my dad used to say: "There is always time to reduce the price!" 🙂 ... GLWTS!
