sambecker1
Dear Basschatters, Does anyone have any idea what might have happened here? Looks like an epoxy/glue finish gone wrong/water damage maybe? I can’t tell if it’s damaged the neck or the wood. It looks more extreme than just nitro cracking. Any help/ideas would be hugely helpful! Thanks in advance! Sam Edited January 18 by sambecker1 Cropped pictures
GuyR
Looks very much like water damage to a poly finish, the corrosion to the metal parts also suggests a damp environment. The wood might be ok but it would have to be refinished to remove the staining. If you are considering buying it move on In my opinion. bubinga5
thats water damage and doesn't look healthy.. If you have bought it ask ex Overwater luthier/painter David Wilson. Hes the master. If you have not bought it what Guy said. Pm me for David Wilsons number if you want his opinion.

Reggaebass
My guess would be it been exposed to moisture too, you’d need to check that the truss rod is ok and working, it might be ok , also check the fretboard closely and the join/glue to the neck
