Mr Bassman Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 (edited) Hoping to move house soon and need to de-clutter. Fast approaching 71 I'm still doing a few gigs but mainly on my Yamaha. I Probably need to sell 3 uprights. First up is a 2008 Jay Haide, Ifshin Violins, Berkeley. Ca. Lovely red varnish, slim neck. Prefer collection in Harrogate but could possibly meet up within reasonable distance. Edited March 10, 2024 by Mr Bassman 7
SamIAm Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 Lust ... such a beautiful instrument GLWTS! Sam x 1
Mr Bassman Posted March 10, 2024 Author Posted March 10, 2024 (edited) Think I've over priced this. I'd seen another one sold, they were asking asking 4k but I don't know what it went for. How about £3.5k? I have an old German hatpeg needs a new home too but not sure of it's value yet. Edited March 10, 2024 by Mr Bassman Forgot to add info
NickA Posted March 17, 2024 Posted March 17, 2024 (edited) These are over £5k new...and they don't worsen with age. Not sure if this is a "Panormo" or a "101" model, but £5300 at bassbags anyway. I had a play on one in Tim Tofts and was quite impressed; even toned and easy to play. An old European bass would have more character perhaps, but with this you'd get no maintenance issues and a known quantity. Whatever, £3.5k is a bargain and a massive step up if you're currently playing a laminated bass. Basses etc do take ages to sell privately. I currently have a cello to sell and it's been on musical chairs for 4months at 75% of the dealer price ...and almost no interest. Patience! ... or get a dealier to sell it on commission. Mr Bassman Posted March 22, 2024 Author Posted March 22, 2024 Just had a query about the vibrating string length so thought I'd include it here approx 103cm or 40 5/8" 1
bassadder Posted March 22, 2024 Posted March 22, 2024 (edited) Oooffff what a stunning bass Keith fabulous woods and I love the shape too. The Irving Sloane tuners alone are probably £ 600.00. BTW Keith is a top bloke and a great person to do deals with. So have no fears his gear is always in great condition Edited March 22, 2024 by bassadder

Mr Bassman Posted March 23, 2024 Author Posted March 23, 2024 (edited) I also need to sell this old German flat back but not sure what its value is. I'll consider any reasonable serious offers. The Clifton is sadly no longer in my possession. Edited March 23, 2024 by Mr Bassman
Mr Bassman Posted May 9, 2024 Author Posted May 9, 2024 My main reason for selling the Jay Haide is due to the skinny neck. I prefer a thicker neck. If this doesn't sell within the next couple of weeks I'm going to have a thicker fingerboard fitted and keep it.
NickA Posted May 9, 2024 Posted May 9, 2024 Skinny back to front or side to side? I presume it's the thickness that's a concern. Lot of money for a big chunk of ebony for a slightly thicker neck. Andmifmthe fingerboard goes up,then the bridge might be too short. Might be cheaper to have a maple wedge put under the fingerboard?
Mr Bassman Posted May 27, 2024 Author Posted May 27, 2024 Jay Haide withdrawn for now, I've taken it in to have the fingerboard sorted.
