jamesgor Posted February 1, 2024 Posted February 1, 2024 Have had several Warwick basses. All have given me problems with jack sockets. I have replaced in everyone the original . With a Warwick part. Even so certain makes of standard jack won’t connect properly. Why? Quote
tauzero Posted February 3, 2024 Posted February 3, 2024 Barrel jacks are dreadful things and should be regarded as consumables. 2 Quote
Baloney Balderdash Posted February 14, 2024 Posted February 14, 2024 (edited) Yeah, barrel jack sockets will fail eventually, even the proper high quality ones, if at least usually lasting longer than the cheaper ones, and unlike the regular ones that usually can be fixed relatively simply and easy in the rare occasions that they do fail, barrel type ones can't. tauzero Posted February 16, 2024 Posted February 16, 2024 I should add: it's really fiddly soldering to barrel jack sockets in situ. If the wires to the socket aren't long enough to be able to dangle it out of the bass body and do your soldering there, extend them a bit. Just don't forget to thread the nut onto the wires inside the body before soldering them in place. Quote
