jamesgor
Have had several Warwick basses. All have given me problems with jack sockets. I have replaced in everyone the original . With a Warwick part. Even so certain makes of standard jack won’t connect properly. Why?
tauzero
Barrel jacks are dreadful things and should be regarded as consumables.
Baloney Balderdash
Yeah, barrel jack sockets will fail eventually, even the proper high quality ones, if at least usually lasting longer than the cheaper ones, and unlike the regular ones that usually can be fixed relatively simply and easy in the rare occasions that they do fail, barrel type ones can't. tauzero
I should add: it's really fiddly soldering to barrel jack sockets in situ. If the wires to the socket aren't long enough to be able to dangle it out of the bass body and do your soldering there, extend them a bit. Just don't forget to thread the nut onto the wires inside the body before soldering them in place.
