mikegatward Posted February 2, 2024 Posted February 2, 2024 Hi all Lookiny for some guidance as to a replacement for a Sadowsky pre in a Shuker pj bass. The ideal choice was a John East uni-pre 4 knob but I’m not convinced the cavity has room for it. The 3 knob version might fit but I’d need a new pick guard I’ve attached some pics to show the space available in the cavity and would appreciate thoughts about what 3 band 4 knob set up might fit. Thanks in advance Quote
NancyJohnson Posted February 3, 2024 Posted February 3, 2024 I've got John's circuits in three or four of my basses...the three knob Uni-pre. They're decent units. It can be a bit of a squeeze to get everything in, plus a battery, and in smaller cavities it's not pretty, but it's worth the effort. Quote
mikegatward Posted February 5, 2024 Author Posted February 5, 2024 I’ve got j-retro, p-retro and u-retro in other basses but I just don’t think the uni-pre will fit in here.the glockenlang 4 pot unit looks a lot more compact Quote
Muzz Posted February 5, 2024 Posted February 5, 2024 (edited) I've got a 3-knob/2-switch Uni-Pre squeezed into an Epiphone-bodied Thunderbird, and they're not exactly big in the cavity; IIRC, you can buy the East Pres as individual pots/mini boards, that might work, given that bend in the cavity...
