RIP Aston 'Family Man' Barrett

The thing I love about his playing is that so many of his lines sound simple until you try to play them note for note, and only then do you realise how much is going on.

Definitely this joe, I’ve been studying his playing for years and he had a certain style and talent which is pretty hard if not impossible to replicate, a true legend , I’ve read many times that he also started Robbie Shakespeare on his bass journey , what a mentor to have

I bet he never played anything the same way twice.

Those Bob Marley songs don't have two single bars the same. 🤣

Ome great lines, impossible to emulate.

Didn't he have 100+ kids or something?

Edit: 31. That's why they called him family man. 🤣

RIP to the Family Man.

Such an influence on so many, including myself.  It wasn't just the notes he played, but where he placed them.

Will be listening to as much of his stuff as I can over the next few days....

I remember watching him talking on a video about playing bass & following the singer to get your timing & pocket, not the drum's. So clever to make that observation & you can hear him doing it. Amazing musician.

Very sad news his passing. RIP.
