BassAdder60
Looking for folks opinions on the Boss BC1X compressor and settings ? I’ve got one incoming and curious how people rate it
fretmeister
I love it. I've had the Origin Cali76; Empress; DG Super Symmetry; MXR and loads of others and I rate the BC-1X over all of them. I sold the rest. The Boss just doesn't have a bad sound in it. It doesn't have that annoying dip and swell that others do - it just works all the time. At some point I'll be buying 1 for each of my boards.

That sounds promising I’m using the Ampeg Optocomp which for a low cost pedal works ok but tends to remove highs a little I’m hoping the Boss pedal is clean ? And does a decent job I’ve tried MXR before and Keeley and sold them both
lidl e
I think it's top 3 of what's out there currently. The boss, the MXR and the empress were what i had it down to when buying a new compressor recently. I did go with the empress becauee i wanted to try out a new (to me) brand, but the other two were both in and out of my shopping cart. I think you'll be very happy.

It just affects dynamics and nothing else.

BassAdder60
Yes it was great but I don’t think I’m going to change my Opto Comp Both good pedals for what I need
BassAdder60
Update .. I was too hasty !! I tried the BC-1X with a new BB-1X set on low drive and it’s a very nice pairing . Playing with a pick and PBass they work well together with the BC-1X adding a little more depth to the picked note and the BB-1X adds a tiny bit of grit and the EQ with added bass fills the pick tone out nicely

I found it adds quite some colour to my tone (both basses), much more than I'd expect from regular compression. Gentle, but fundamental. It just becomes different, especially the lower notes change a lot, as their "clarity" increases. I attributed this to the multiband compression that clears up the tone a bit on the various bands. Lozz196
I’ve found that with a few compressors and reckon that’s what it is, it’s not so much colouring the sound as removing the flub so hearing the actual notes better.

But I mean, my point is even when I max out the threshold (so nothing triggers according to the VU) and set compression to 1:1 (so even if something accidentally triggers, no compression should be made), I still hear a difference between ON and OFF 😎 I am getting ready with a Reamped chain-shuffling pedal-enabling video anyway right now, so you'll hear, YOU'LL ALL HEAR I tell you!!!
