musicbassman Posted February 14, 2024 Posted February 14, 2024 A new name to me, Japanese band Koenji Hyakkei playing at the Lexington. Wish I'd been there 🙂 3 1 Quote
BassTractor Posted February 14, 2024 Posted February 14, 2024 Thanks! Melurvesthem, and because of your post I now also know they in fact released a new album in 2018, after a 13-year hiatus. Quote
BassTractor Posted February 14, 2024 Posted February 14, 2024 PS, do you think Christian Vander would've approved? 😊 1 Quote

No lust in Jazz Posted February 15, 2024 Posted February 15, 2024 If anyone wants to play Zeuhl - Then they're ok by me - Thanks for the post I'd not heard of them. Quote
BassTractor Posted February 15, 2024 Posted February 15, 2024 (edited) Reportedly there are several milieus in Tokyo of musicians playing roughly these kinds of musics - in part inspired by say Canterbury, Zeuhl, Zappa, Henry Cow, Art Bears and progrock in general. Koenjihyakkei's drummer is a driving force in Ruins, who I think are slightly more known, and in bands I know zilch about, like Korekyojinn. Luvverly stuff and well-recommended if you're into the sources of their inspiration. Edited February 15, 2024 by BassTractor 1 Quote
