Apparently nicked from a van parked in Notting Hill in 1972. It was outside a squat and one of the squatters took it, but when he realised how "hot" it was given it to the pub landlord for safe keeping.

Gives me some hope, that's for sure. Although McCartney has a slightly higher profile than me (and considerably more resources too).

That's something I never thought would happen, at least in Paul's lifetime!

So much for his theory that it was in an alpine schloss mounted on the wall of a safe room where some Bond-villain locks himself in with a snifter of cognac to look at it.  It was very much the opposite.

I read that the lady who gave up the bass is now expecting compensation, even though her dad nicked it!
