Multi effects pedal straight into bass cab?

I bought a headrush mx5 multi effects pedal a while back and use it for my bass. I was wondering if anyone knew if I could plug it in straight into a bass cab? Without an amp head? I really can't get a good answer online. I have a small ampeg BA 108 combo amp I use but lately I've just been plugging my bass straight into the pedal and using headphones. I would like a bass cab though

It needs to go into an amp before it goes to a speaker, be it an amp head or the amp within a combo. Unless I'm misunderstanding the question - quite likely, I'm daft as a brush - you won't hear a sausage were you to simply plug a pedal into a speaker cabinet.

If it was an active cab then yes, the effects pedal won’t drive a speaker on its own. This is my setup when not using iem’s…. bass, pedals, then into an active LD System 15” cab.

You need something to power the cab.

the output from the headrush is line level and will not do this.

 

You need an amp head, power amp or an active speaker that powers itself.
