Bogey
Hi, I'm going to Liverpool tomorrow, and want to check out some musicstores with my brother (guitarplayer). Can someone tell me some shops I can check out? Thank you! Edited May 13, 2009 by Bogey

steve-soar
Don't forget Curly Music, just up the road from Dawsons.
steve-soar
Hesseys was the best music shop in Liverpool and Rushworths was pretty good too, sadly, no longer with us.
tempo
As already mentioned, Dawsons, Dolphin & Curly's. All within 100m of each other and Central station. Outside of town center there is Micro music on Smithdown rd & Frets nr Aintree race course. Pete
markyboy2106
I was talking to a mate of mine today and he said Micro Music had gone out of business. I got my first bass from there, a Westfield Stingray copy. What a shame!!!

It's a shame Hesseys has gone - I bought my main bass there back in 1985.
steve-soar
I bought a few basses and a couple of amps from Hesseys, all from the main man, Colin the manager. Does anyone remember him, big, big guy, grey hair, trimmed beard, happiest man I've ever met and did the best deals ever for cash, so cool in fact, our band even gave him a credit on our first album. JayC
There's a new shop on Slater Street, anyone been in?
mike257
Micro Music is gone, I'm not sure if Frets is still around either. Dawsons/Dolphin/Curly have already had the mention, and if you find one, you've found all three. Central Station is well signposted, so head for there and you can't miss them. I haven't checked out the new place on Slater Street yet, only had a peek in the window. Got some nice pedals, but couldn't see a single bass in there! If you're heading out of the city centre, there's Moran Sound in Gateacre, do some nice vintage guitars, a lot of acoustics, and keep a small stock of bass stuff in. Hold on, I've just looked at the date of your post and realised you've already been. Oh well. Find anything you liked??
Etienne
The shop on Slater St. is called the GAS Factory- one of the chaps who used to run Micro Music is to be found there. It's mainly a guitar shop, but also deals in boutique pedals and Blackstar guitar amps- I've seen the highly-regarded Fulltone pedal range for sale in there in the past, including the Bass Drive pedal, so worth a look! Also check out Frailer's in Runcorn town centre- It's primarily a guitar, mandolin and banjo specialist, but always has a few tasty 2nd-hand basses around. I found my stack-knob reissue Jazz Bass in there!
