bigjimmyc
Hiya. I am looking to source a single low B for a Kramer. I'm concerned that many stock strings will be too short. The distance from bridge to nut is almost 36", but the long headstock means the machine head is another 8" from there. All advice welcomed. I've searched the usual places and come up with too little detail as usual. I will consider full sets, but as this isn't a zillion dollar instrument I'd rather not go for broke. MichaelDean
I'd be contacting Newtone. They'll make one at the right length for you.

fretmeister
Another vote for Newtone. Measure up the entire instrument and they'll make you a Steel or Nickel round, with either a round or hex core. Choice is yours. Very nice strings.
bigjimmyc
I went with D’Addario because it was easier and quicker (from Amazon). Newtone looks great, thanks for the tip.
BigRedX
Back in the early 90s when I bought my first 36" scale bass (Overwater Original), Newtone were the only string manufacturer capable of making a suitably long B string that sounded good. itu
GHS had good Long scale plus sets, although they were pretty hard to find. One shop said I need to buy a box (10 sets) at a time. I do admit they offered the boxes at a really attractive price!
