andytoad Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 Just Eat. The uk has a thriving independent takeaway industry, call direct get a delivery, maybe a small charge. Then this uneeded middle man comes along and tries to stifle the industry and whack an admin fee for their unwanted service. People use it unbelievable. 4 Quote
Beer of the Bass Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 When looking for a new acoustic guitar I tried a couple of used Avalon models and quite liked them. But the CEO was Northern Ireland's first upskirting arrest, and then got nobbled for even worse stuff on his hard drive during the investigation, and the guitars lost their appeal a bit upon discovering that. It's not unwanted when so many people use it 'though. Quote

I've gone off such things - not only is there a service charge/delivery charge, but they mark up the price of the items as well, the rats. I'm cheaper going in the car myself and getting the bloody takeaway! 2 Quote

But after a gig or when I'm somewhere that isn't my house then Just Eat is easier. Quote

If a takeaway doesn't have dedicated delivery staff and doesn't want to deal with hiring/firing, it means they can reach a wider audience. 1 Quote

GhostStark Posted December 17, 2024 Posted December 17, 2024 (edited) I’ve definitely had my share of frustrating experiences with companies, especially in the past. One that comes to mind was when I was struggling with some overdue bills, and one company just kept dragging their feet when it came to resolving the issue. It felt like I was getting nowhere with them. Eventually, I reached out to a debt management companies manchester (Frontline Collections), and they really helped me out. They were super professional and helped me work out a plan that was fair and manageable. Edited December 24, 2024 by GhostStark Quote
msb Posted December 17, 2024 Posted December 17, 2024 The joy of being self employed. It always seemed the larger companies would pay after ninety days. My suppliers demanded payment after thirty days. The few that quickly paid within thirty were very appreciated. 1 1 Quote
tubbybloke68 Posted December 17, 2024 Posted December 17, 2024 Few years too late but Skinner’s sheds, based in or near Rye East Sussex I believe. Ordered a shed for my mum’s back garden, paid for it to be erected there aswell. Made a base out of old railway sleepers, checked with a two metre level for trueness etc.(I’m a flooring contractor so I know a thing or two about levels etc. unfortunately i couldn’t get there in time when they delivered it and were supposed to build it. When I got there the bastards had dumped all the shed panels leaning against the apple tree and apparently the f**kers had said that the base wasn’t level enough!! I asked mum if she had seen them check it and she said no they hadn’t. Obviously no intention whatsoever of ever doing it anyway. I rang the office and spoke to this f**king tosser who was not only rude but thick as f**k with it too. Looking back, the good side was me and my brother put up the shed with much greater care and attention than they would have done, and said shed is still standing happily today with no problems, oh, but not enough roofing felt was supplied either, so we had to sort that out. So please, if you’re after a new shed, don’t get it from that lot!! aaaahh, i feel better for that. Rant over 🤣x 2 1 Quote

But I pay our freelancers after 7. I have to absorb the cost but it’s worth it to keep good people around. 2 Quote

SH73 Posted December 17, 2024 Posted December 17, 2024 Where do I start, ahem.... Evri- these clowns had lobbed parcels over my fence, or said they could not deliver due to bad weather. When I called them I asked them what the weather was over there which they confirmed being confused " lovely"( where the depot was) ,then I claimed the days weather forecast was 15 degrees C, sunny then I quoted their message " unable to deliver due bad weather", they said yes but no but...this was when you could actually call them. Recently they said we refused to accept the parcel, we were in all day...and I could go on. Royal mail delivery, they threw an LP with stickers all over "fragile" over the fence. They delivered my parcel to the wrong street, they deliver d someone else's letters to us, when I told Pat it was the wrong address he told me to take it to the correct address, he was few steps from my front door. Pat then said if you want to complain you can, he shrugged his shoulders, but reluctantly took the letters off me. Ableton DAW, always crashes, customer support is shocking.... Every budget airline! 1 Quote
SteveXFR Posted December 17, 2024 Posted December 17, 2024 Handsome Dan's clothing. Four weeks and my jacket still hasn't turned up. They're not replying to emails or messages and they have no phone number. I'm getting chilly here. I'd put a jacket on if I had one. Quote

meterman Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 HMRC, if they meet the criteria? Reasons? Bloody hell, I could be posting them here all week 😂 But yeah, definitely HMRC. Pack of useless chancers. 1 Quote

tauzero Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 Pizza Hut. Every now and again, Mrs Zero gets a desire for a pizza. I'm not so enthusiastic about them but find them acceptable with a garlic dip. However, the firms like Dominoes and Pappa John have taken to supplying garlic and herb dips instead, which I don't like as much. Pizza Hut allowed Mrs Zero to order garlic dips, but what turned up were garlic and herb dips. She rang up and was told they'd sent garlic dips, which they obviously hadn't, and after a couple of minutes of back and forth and being told she could come into the store to pick them up, she gave up. So henceforth I am going totally pizza free. 1 Quote
Jean-Luc Pickguard Posted December 19, 2024 Author Posted December 19, 2024 Pizza Hut used to do a good range of plant-based 'beyond' toppings which made it quite a treat for me as I don't eat animals, however the last time I was about to order they were conspicuous by their absence. Perhaps I was the only person ordering them. Quote
xgsjx Posted December 23, 2024 Posted December 23, 2024 I try my best not to support big corporations (especially the US ones) & prefer to buy local or independent companies. I also use an app called “No Thanks” to help me avoid anything that supports apartheid. The No Thanks app is available for both iOS & Android. 3 Quote
