neepheid Posted February 25, 2024 Posted February 25, 2024 Unfortunately, I have a gig the night before. I know I said that last year and ended up being able to attend because there was a cancellation, but I'm not placing any bets on lightning striking twice. You never know, but at time of writing this, I will be unable to attend and lumber you with my recycling 2 Quote
Buddster Posted February 25, 2024 Posted February 25, 2024 That's a shame Neep. Was hoping you'd bring down a box of Butteries! As well as your wonderful collection of bass ofc. 3 Quote
Woodinblack Posted February 26, 2024 Posted February 26, 2024 Odd - I went to my calendar to put it in, and for some reason, it was already there 😮 2 Quote

MichaelDean Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 It's already in the calendar! Happy to pay in advance again! 🙂 1 Quote
TRBboy Posted March 5, 2024 Posted March 5, 2024 Will get this in the calendar! Couldn't make it last year, but would really like to come 😊 Quote
Frank Blank Posted March 5, 2024 Posted March 5, 2024 Right. I am definitely attending this one, hopefully, unlike 2 years ago, I won't have to leave after 30 minutes rather than punching someone! 1 Quote

No, this time you can punch someone AND leave after 30 minutes. 3 Quote

Chienmortbb Posted March 12, 2024 Posted March 12, 2024 I understand that if @Frank Blank does not attend this year’s bash, the world will end at midnight October 41st. 1 1 Quote

A similar rumour (If @Frank Blank did not attend last year's Bash, the 08:17 53 - Oxford Bus Station (Gloucester Road) to Bicester bus would be 5 minutes late) was doing the rounds last year. I didn't attend the Bash and yet the aforementioned bus was on time. I think the world is safe. Mind you, from Oct. 42nd onwards is anyone's guess. In summary, Nostradamocles, or whatever his name was, can do one. Edited May 15, 2024 by Frank Blank 1 Quote
Nos Posted May 13, 2024 Posted May 13, 2024 I'll apologise first for the dumb question, but.... What is this exactly? I'm in North Devon so it's not far to come and sounds interesting but I just don't have a clue (this goes for most things by the way😆). 1 Quote

A bass bash is when a bunch of bass players get together, bring some/all of their gear, set it up then we all go round admiring and trying out other people's basses. There's the general social aspect of it, there's often things like talks, gear shootouts, raffles and sometimes food is laid on also (can attest to the feast at this one being particularly good). 4 Quote

You turn up in the morning, having bought any bass gear you see fit, pay a tenner (for the hire of the hall) and you spend the day checking out everyone else's basses and amps. Not only that, the SWBB speciality is a superb lunch made by Mrs Scrumpy and her Scrumpettes. Essentially it is day for bass players to simply indulge themselves in loads of basses and gear. Lots of folk drive miles (it's 230 miles for me and I've done it twice) worth every mile I'd say! Edited May 15, 2024 by Frank Blank 1 Quote

Nos Posted May 13, 2024 Posted May 13, 2024 @neepheid Thanks - That sounds like a blast, my gear isn't anywhere near as good as most of the stuff on here and doubt anyone would want to try it (but you never know🤣), the opportunity to try different basses is especially appealing as there is very limited selection of instrument outlets near me and I keep seeing gear that looks nice but never sure if I'll get on with it. Biggest worry is the burning jealousy I'll have over all the nice kit and lack of funds to buy any😖 @Frank Blank - That's an impressive recommendation, reckon I need to get that in the diary. @Woodinblack - Thanks, looks like there was some seriously nice kit on show 2 Quote

Biggest worry is the burning jealousy I'll have over all the nice kit and lack of funds to buy any😖 That's right, you never know! Usually, when the Bash is due, people will start putting their names down on a gear list, so you know what's being brought along and people will say what they are looking forward to seeing. We all go home wishing we had one or two (or eleventy three) of the basses on show but you only have a year to wait until you can have another go! 🤣 2 minutes ago, Nos said: @Frank Blank - That's an impressive recommendation, reckon I need to get that in the diary. Get it in, highlight of the Basschat year. 2 minutes ago, Nos said: @Woodinblack - Thanks, looks like there was some seriously nice kit on show Why didn't I think of linking to that... 1 Quote
chyc Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 I would like to come to this. I haven't necessarily thought this through entirely, but I'd have to drive close to Oxford, Swindon and Bristol on my way to Taunton, so would anyone like a lift to Taunton, in return for some shared petrol money? I suppose the kicker is that with two bodies in a reasonably small car there'll be limited space for your gear, but I'm sure I can accommodate some stuff at least. I'm not committed to coming yet: the diary is cloudy that far in the future and I may have missed something, but I thought I'd sound this out in good time to start a conversation. Contact me via direct message if you're interested. 4 Quote

Must have missed his medication yesterday 😊 Look forward to seeing you on the day. You'll be made most welcome - and won't need to eat for a week afterwards! 1 1 Quote

Figured that, but appreciate the clarification. As for the food, and not having to eat for a week, you clearly haven’t met me yet🤣 1 Quote
