BUT YOU'RE SO BLIND

they look like a polished trebuchet that has been clumsily glued to a toaster by a nine year old, and then hit with a hammer. By the nine year old

I never saw the attraction with them, myself. Same with that 4005XC that looks like a Shafto copy.

FTFY. Otherwise I fully agree.

I did like that 4005XC they did a few years ago, which was a 24 fret shortscale with the much more elegant body shape of the 330 guitar. That one was conceived as a 90th anniversary model and was a limited edition.

Quite a cool insight…

I'll definitely try one out because it's always been on the wishlist to play one.  Unless they are already pre-sold to other lefties for whom this was always the one that got away and won't even be in the shops.

did anyone ever try the 4005XC? I was intriugued by them given they are shorties, and the body shape is really nice... and the price of them seems to have come down considerably since the 4005V announcement...

Behind the (set) neck there was next to no wood, and it folded up like a deck chair, just like some 4001s did.

Nothing that can't be fixed with a couple of 2" woodscrews and some offcuts. 😉

Where have they been hiding that CNC router from us all this time?

(edit: image taken from a Rickenfaker ID thread, so not a real Ric. Routing job of the wiring channel is accurate though )

Sure. But your average Aliexpress purchaser probably won't be aware of the fresh air until the bass folds up.

I've seen 4001s with the 'swimming pool' filled in. One guy even did it himself with a thing called 'Bondo'.
