neepheid Posted March 4, 2024 Author Posted March 4, 2024 Something's been bugging me about these - it's the single colour on the headstock. Should Epiphone have done a trad black headstock with colour outline? Here's a quick and dirty mockup: VS FIGHT 5 Quote
Jonesy Posted March 4, 2024 Posted March 4, 2024 Ohhhhhhhhh, now that you mention it, I can't unsee it. Yours is loads better. You've ruined a perfectly good bass for me. My wallet is happy though 😃 1 Quote

neepheid Posted March 5, 2024 Author Posted March 5, 2024 Damn, that does look nice in red. Oh dear. Just as well I think they're a mite bit too expensive, even with the addition of a gigbag and other minor improvements, if the price had been the same as the previous Vintage Pro/60s model then my gear abstinence this year might have come under more serious threat... 2 Quote
neepheid Posted March 26, 2024 Author Posted March 26, 2024 I wonder if they're thinking about launching some additional colours, or is this wishful thinking/general error on behalf of the retailer? https://www.musicstore.com/en_OT/EUR/Epiphone-Thunderbird-64-Purple-Sparkle/art-BAS0012594-002 https://www.musicstore.com/en_OT/EUR/Epiphone-Thunderbird-64-Brunswick-Blue-Sparkle/art-BAS0012594-001 A blue and a purple? Sounds awesome, I hope they appear! 2 Quote
Jonesy Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 A purple sparkle thunderbird........? I'm off to sit in a dark room and repeat 'I don't need another bass' for a few hours. Maybe it'll work. Quote
Jonesy Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 Here's a brunswick blue 335..... https://www.gibson.com/en-GB/Electric-Guitar/CUS18827/Brunswick-Blue And a purple sparkle 335..... https://guitarscigars.net/2022/03/11/gibson-64-es-335-purple-sparkle/ Both look pretty great. Oh dear.... Quote

neepheid Posted April 4, 2024 Author Posted April 4, 2024 Mystery resolved - yes, they're real, but they're a zzounds exclusive in the US and they don't ship internationally, so tough! https://www.zzounds.com/item--EPIEITB6PRSNH3 https://www.zzounds.com/item--EPIEITB6BBSNH3 1 2 Quote
AndyTravis Posted April 4, 2024 Posted April 4, 2024 Looks like a Zzounds “exclusive” so we won’t see them. Quote

NancyJohnson Posted April 4, 2024 Posted April 4, 2024 I don't mind the finishes, but in these days of all this historic reissue nonsense, you'd think that they'd go the extra mile and get the body geometry and the nuances correct. On the left a 1964 TBII on the right, the Epiphone. Headstock wrong, knobs wrong, sidejack, wrong, body similar, close but no cigar. Still a no from me. 1 1 Quote
Jonesy Posted April 4, 2024 Posted April 4, 2024 *puts on thinking cap* Who do I know in the States that I can send this to, so they can then ship to me............. Quote
