On the left a 1964 TBII on the right, the Epiphone. Headstock wrong, knobs wrong, sidejack, wrong, body similar, close but no cigar. Still a no from me. I doubt you're going to be happy with anything other than an actual '64 T-bird. They'll get everything physically perfect and it'll be "nope, it doesn't smell like someone smoked several thousand Senior Service next to it, and my wallet is telling me that I haven't spent a five figure on a bass - something still doesn't feel right..." 4 Quote

More than happy with my TBII from '64 in Inverness Green. 5 Quote
neepheid Posted November 17, 2024 Author Posted November 17, 2024 Some of the limited edition have leaked across the pond! Purple sparkle is already gone, but they've still got blue... https://www.musicstore.com/en_GB/GBP/Epiphone-Thunderbird-64-Brunswick-Blue-Sparkle/art-BAS0012594-001 4 Quote

bigthumb Posted November 18, 2024 Posted November 18, 2024 Compared to the Grabber these are great value for money and I’ve read some great reviews too. If I didn’t already have 4 Thunderbird basses I’d be onto one of these. 1 Quote
Jean-Luc Pickguard Posted November 18, 2024 Posted November 18, 2024 The blue one is so tempting, but over time I seem to have acquired vintage pro thunderbirds in all of the original colours — Sunburst, black, & white, so I already have more of them than I need. Quote
cetera Posted November 18, 2024 Posted November 18, 2024 Balls. I would have loved a purple one Quote
AndyTravis Posted November 18, 2024 Posted November 18, 2024 Would love a blue - not gonna happen this side of 2026 though 😐 Quote

BassApprentice Posted November 18, 2024 Posted November 18, 2024 (edited) Not to tempt anyone, but the purple one whilst being sold out, does say available on demand...😅 Might be worth a message to see what that means timeframe wise Edited November 18, 2024 by BassApprentice Quote
Cato Posted November 18, 2024 Posted November 18, 2024 (edited) I wouldn't be suprised if some more purple ones appear. I've recently seen purple sparkle flying vees, explorers and SGs turning up on various UK retail sites, so it looks like Epiphone have a purple sparkle production line going at the moment. rwillett Posted November 18, 2024 Posted November 18, 2024 (edited) This shape is going to be my next 3d printed bass. I was (and still might) make it headless, so its loosely (very, very loosely) based on a Thunderbird. Oddly enough I have blue sparkly filament all lined up for it. It might be ready for next years NW and Scotland (and a bit of the SW) Bass Bash 2025 in May. Or it might not Edited November 18, 2024 by rwillett 3 Quote
