Mickeyboro Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 Google Mick Hawksworth and you will find it to your advantage. Quote
rwillett Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 I was going to say how fussy @TheGreek is, how just about anything offends his delicate sensibilities, how perfect things need to be, and then I clicked on the link and found out that he was absolutely right I'm not sure I'll sleep tonight. 1 Quote

Woody1957 Posted March 5, 2024 Posted March 5, 2024 Judging by all the rust on the pups l wonder which sunken Spanish galleon it was salvaged from.... 1 Quote
Newfoundfreedom Posted March 5, 2024 Posted March 5, 2024 I like it! 😆 Although I'm not sure my back would, and I can't see what possible use a twin neck bass would be. Surely it would make more sense for one of the necks to be a guitar? Quote
Mickeyboro Posted March 7, 2024 Posted March 7, 2024 Mick was a really good bass player who certainly impressed me. Fly Guitars - an excellent resource - did an interview with him which explains the genesis of this instrument. https://www.flyguitars.com/interviews/mickhawksworth3.php 1 Quote
tauzero Posted March 11, 2024 Posted March 11, 2024 Strange that he doesn't mention that the short scale neck is an 8-string. Quote

NikNik Posted March 12, 2024 Posted March 12, 2024 There's something Derek Smalls about Mick and this bass. Did Harry Shearer ever see this band? Quote
paul_5 Posted March 12, 2024 Posted March 12, 2024 Somewhere there's a really beautiful version of this played by Dorian Gray. 1 Quote
rwillett Posted March 12, 2024 Posted March 12, 2024 I thought it was Derek Smalls. To be fair it doesnt look that bad in black and white, slightly blurred and partially hidden. Suspect my kids would say the same about me. 1 1 Quote
Woody1957 Posted March 12, 2024 Posted March 12, 2024 I wouldn't like to lug that beastie around a stage for 2 hours..... Mind you he has got some class...looks like he's playing through acoustic cabs. Quote

In its own way, this weird/hideous bass is a proper bit of UK music history, as is its original owner. It should be restored & stuck in an (unfortunately non-existent!) museum! 1 Quote

With the sad passing of Mo Foster and others the informative and funny raconteurs and authors are getting fewer. Quite like the bass but I've a touch of neuropathy so no dice with the weight....plus I'm left handed. 1 Quote
