The AI bassist: Sony's vision for replacing bass players...

Recommended Posts

It's already the case that recorded music isn't much of a money maker and artists make most money through playing live and merchandise. My guess is AI probably won't make much difference to that other than perhaps making recorded music less valuable and the experience of seeing live bands more valuable.

Interesting that Thomas Bangalter of Daft Punk having spent nearly 30 years pretending to be a Robot, disbanded and said "the last thing I would want to be, in the world we live in, in 2023, is a robot." and went on to write a score by hand for a 55 piece orchestra and 20 ballet dancers.

Hmm. But can it pull the right face when you hit a bottom E?

Keep on, with the force, don't stop
Don't stop 'til you get enough

I wish they'd stop making AI for things that humans like to do and focus on things that humans don't like to do. I don't want it to make music for me. I want AI to trawl through the internet in its entireity to find the best insurance deals, not just price comparison websites. Or one that scans a recipe and adds the ingredients to my online supermarket shop, highlighting somewhere that sells something my supermarket doesn't stock.

I still remember being told that there would be no need for bass players when synths became big in 1979.....

True and sad words, reallllllllllly!!! 🤣 I was born in 1982. and start playing bass from 1999. so all these years were pointless?
