Jamison Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 (edited) I am new to Reverb but thought this worth a post. I am getting inbox messages from "REVERB" that state some one has bought a piece of gear and my account needs to be verified. The message appears as "from reverb" and asks you to verify your account to accept the offer from the buyer. Of course, has a link. I was suspicious so contacted Reverb and indeed it was a scam. The crazy thing is the timing of it all, I just verified my account with them and within 5 minutes get this message to verify. I thought i did something wrong in the verification process. Seems I may have a lot more to learn about that online portal and what to look out for, it doesnt appear to be very safe or secure. I dont even get this kind of attempts from Ebay.. Facebook is obv full of scams, to be expected that "their uncle will pick it up and pay you double.." 🤪 Edited March 13, 2024 by Jamison Quote
Doctor J Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 What is the email address it's coming from? Quote

woodyratm Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 Verf-revrb.com doesn’t seem legit. I wouldn’t proceed. Are you selling items? Take a look on your dashboard on https://reverb.com and see what is there. I would imagine it won’t be there, and in the event it’s showing your account needing verification; I’d follow that route rather than a link. Quote
woodyratm Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 Just noticed you’ve had it confirmed to be a scam. Shaders eh. Quote
Doctor J Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 Is it a user account who had set up their name as "Reverb" and is just firing out PMs by the look of it. If you click on the sender name in your messages it should give you more details on the account. Quote
MartinB Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 Is that someone who's set their profile picture to be the Reverb logo, and their name as "£1,620 + Local Pickup"? 🤔 Quote

Jamison Posted March 13, 2024 Author Posted March 13, 2024 So its a fake profile sending out reverb branded links to reverify your bank details via stripe Quote

Already sorted it all out I am just here to alert the community not to click! Its pretty slick to get that message within five minutes of setting up a account (makes a new user feel they messed up and need to do it again) 2 1 Quote
