Love the Ray tone just can't get on with playability.

I have to come clean and clarify that my Stingray is my most favourite bass ever. However, the L2000 is just as good, and that's a USA Ray vs a tribute G&L. I can only imagine that a USA G&L would be amazing.
SimonK
I've got two US 3EQ Stingrays, one fretless, one fretted. I really like the 3 EQ setup as it is the most powerful onboard EQ I've played. My only regret is that neither have roasted maple necks. The necks on mine are fine, but there is something about the way Musicman roasts a neck that is just aesthetically awesome: from: https://www.talkbass.com/threads/stingray-special-hh-roasted-flamed-maple-neck-fingerboard-special-edition.1530091/
horrorshowbass
@la bam Theres a nice US SUB up at minute with decent G string alignment. Also about half the price of a "full fat" Ray.

It stands for Stingray's Ugly Brother.

Looking at you; •Ibanez ATKs- or anything else with that Triple Coil pickup. •Warwick $$, Fortress MasterMan, Streamer Pro M etc. • Various G&Ls such as the L1000, L2000, ASAT All of them sport "that growl", or their own version of it. That guts me as I had a clf l2000 and just couldn't get it to do anything with my bands at that time. Shame because maybe it would work with my current ones. And they're too expensive to take a gamble on.

Recently saw an l2500 on ebay for £375.
