ValleyArts
I bought this really old EMG pickup, it has some weird residue on the pickup (maybe glue?) I've tried just normal cleaning wipes and IPA just as I know those won't harm the plastic but I've had no luck, any one else know what I could try that would get rid of this stuff? Thanks

ezbass
Try a little vegetable oil on a cotton bud.
tauzero
Is there somewhere on the pickup cover that you can experiment on without it showing up? If so, you could see if acetone harms the cover and if not, try that. It is a powerful solvent though so an initial experiment is needed. Baloney Balderdash
The previous owner was a bit too happy about seeing the pickups, and just couldn't restrain himself, back when he first opened the box, and they were all new and shiny. Retrospectively I am sure he regret not at least using protection. Edited March 18 by Baloney Balderdash
Aidan63
is it residue or is it where maybe solder was spilt and removed but has when hot changed the moleular structure of the plastic due to heat and flux? if rubbing alcohol didn't touch it it is probably there for good
