police squad
I ordered one of these from Bax Global for £236.00. It's arrived and it's very nicely made and it has got me thinking. It doesn't come with a power supply, which although isn't really a problem (I have a voodoo labs pedal power two on another pedal board) I would like to mount this preamp on a smaller pedal board with maybe just a tuner. Also, no FX loop, again I don't use FX so it shouldn't be a problem either but say I wanted a little chorus on my board, I can still stick it throught the front So I'm asking you lovely people what other power supplies could I use for this, my boss tuner and chorus pedal. I can't post a pictute atm, it's at home and I'm at work
Bassman68
Depends on the current draw but I can’t see it exceeding 500mA? you might be able to get away with a 3 way daisy chain connecting to a OneSpot or equivalent with a 1000mA or larger supply to power all 3 pedals? As they are all analog, non tube, pedals, it is unlikely that they will draw more than a couple of hundreds of mA, at most (well, guess the tuner is digital, but I am quite certain that won't even draw 100mA, so a couple of 100's of mA is still the likely summed up current draw). ahpook
How about one of the Harley Benton ISO models? I'm very pleased with my two - I have an ISO-5 and ISO-2. A few more power outs than you need at the moment, but good to have the extra slots. https://harleybenton.com/effects/power-supply/ Edited March 23 by ahpook
police squad
Dave at Ashdown told me 100 ma and 9 volt. It must be linear and not switching. Would a boss PSA230 do it, just for a really simple set up. I'm trying to keep the cost down here a little, so I can get everything sorted and keep the weight down too
JazzyJ
I fitted a DC socket to very portable board, powered by a Mooer 2A supply. Overkill but was cheap enough.
police squad
I have a mooer too but it's switchable and I was told not to use one It's all too complicated lol
ahpook
I wonder if Ashdown are recommending linear power suplies as some switching ones can be noisy. Not something I've found with the HB supplies BTW. In your situation, I'd try your Mooer unit - assuming it'll provide the 100mA - and see how it goes. The Boss 230 is worth a try if the Mooer doesn't work out.
