The SA guitarist, Martin Kent or Ace as he was more recently known is from my home town of Cheltenham and I remember when he was just a local muso like the rest of us and had a very dodgy band called The Screaming Amoeba's!! However he was then and still is now a very laid back and likeable bloke. Also the only guy from here in a long time who actually managed to "make it" in the music business.

Everyday Hurts is my fave track - I love the bass intro and not sure what effect he uses on it but it sounds great.

Good luck to him and the rest of SA.
This is great news. I first saw SA back in 1997 while on holiday in Arizona where they were supporting Henry Rollins. There must have been no more than 25-30 watching their set. Anyway when they finished me, my girlfriend and our American friends introduced ourselves to the drummer. The ice breaker was that my gf's brother had interviewed Mark Richardson for the Lancashire Evening Telegraph two weeks previously and they got on really well. He invited us for drinks with the rest of the band and stayed with them for the rest of the evening. Skin was lovely, totally the opposite of her manic stage persona and came back from the bar with beers plus free CDs for us.

Missed all of the Rollins set.

Can't wait for the tour.
Nope, doesn't do it for me. Lyrics are a bit lame IMO - also maybe I'm just not keen on her voice? Ah well, we are all individuals ("I'm not!")...

Ah, I love that tune. Great driving bassline, tasteful fills. Just what Cass does best.

Alex
Bland, record company tripe, can't stand the way she pretends to be wired, video just showing pretty drummer, rock music for those who don't like anything too challenging or dangerous.
Cass is a dude though.
I've seen SA years ago and I left after about half way through because of all of the above.

Lordy, lighten up will you? If you can't enjoy a simple rock song without being labelled a musical f***wit what's the world coming to!

Much as I like Cass / SA, I don't think I'd have missed Rollins... Another employer of utter bass monsters- Andrew Weiss and Melvin Gibbs.... Both potent foils for the aforementioned Mssrs Lewis and Balzary.
I saw Cass Lewis several times hanging around in the Bass Centre trying gear. He used Peavey at the time and was moving to Trace. He was seriously good. I used to pretend to check out the basses and listen to him. This was just before TTD.
I saw him at the BC around that time too. Was he using that outrageous pink fretless Jazz when you saw him?

Saw SA back in '96 with the Sex Pistols in Finsbury park, great band and a great day! She did an insane dive into the crowd (not Boy hits car style, but still cool as ....)

Also saw him when he was with TTD a long time ago, they were supporting Bowie on the glass spider tour, TTD were a bit sh*t to be honest, Alison Moyet played the same day, awesome voice, Bowie was on form, I remember Peter Frampton was on 6 string duty at that time

Tour dates for SA are out, sometime in November me thinks, I will go see, great band!

Got a ticket for the Brum gig in November - very much looking forward to it.

I first encountered SA at a free festival in Bristol around the time of their first album. All I remember was lots of overdriven bass played by what looked like a massive set of dreadlocks and Skin diving into the crowd to have a word with a couple of NF types who were saying unpleasant things about her.

I've got tickets to see them in Glasgow nest month too.

I saw them at the Barrowland in 1996/7 and got talking to Mark Richardson at the merchandise stand. The girl I went with was ecstatic as she had a huge crush on him (must be a first for a drummer!). Most of the crowd were young lesbians and it was the first gig I've been to where men were in the minority. Security cordoned off part of cubicles in the gents toilet and escorted groups of women in to use them. That was the first and only time I've urinated in front of a lesbian.
