WITHDRAWN

After a little TLC and repair, together with extensive shootouts with a Sandberg VS4, this bass is too good to sell and will be remaining in my collection for now.

Thanks to everyone for their interest.

......... One final toggle switch has broken off. I never knew what it did (not much) but it could easily be replaced with a switchcraft replacement and a little soldering.

Fairly sure that’s the coil tap switch, to switch between dual coil humbucking and single coil; see:

Lovely bass in stunning condition, I do prefer them in the “blond” natural finish like this.   For some reason Thunders seem to be the last of the classic vintage basses that can still be had cheap, no idea why. 🤔

Bump and GLWTS 👍

The linked manual if for a guitar with humbuckers (3 switches). On the bass (2 switches) I believe it is a series/parallel toggle.

Update: I sourced a replacement switch and soldered it in. It switches between serial and parallel mode aka 'Dual Tone' as people here have kindly pointed out already.

I have a black one of these. The active preamp was fried, but I swapped it for an Aguilar, and it is my favourite bass currently. Super slim, fast neck. Heavy but not noticeable really.

I had one of these as my first bass back in the 80s.

I had no idea it was heavy.

Compared to newer stuff it's heavy but I like it. It's reassuringly solid.
