Celinder Basses. My homage...

Not sure where this goes without making it spammy....but I thought other Celinder fans might enjoy my latest creation. I decided that not enough people seem to remember Christian's work, so I thought I'd do something about it.

Happy to move this elsewhere if it's the wrong forum!!

Lovely video - thanks! I went through an extended period of experimenting with Fender-type basses and owned a few Celinders (some of which Andy above probably played - and with far greater skill than me). All were superb, though some have their idiosyncracies. Beyond tone, one of the remarkable aspects of Christian’s bases is their ergonomics. I don’t know how he did it (does it?) but the basses I owned had a kind of ‘wrap around’ feel and were immensely comfortable to play. I have a feeling that I owned the jazz in the video - I’ll drop a pm

Dont know about the title ? I think pretty much everybody knows Celinder basses or at least read or heard about them ? Celinder have bin building basses around 30 years, so plenty of threads about these amazing basses, if you have one and like it just keep it

the are pretty niche boutique low volume production - outside bass forums they would be unknown

Celinders are know to bassplayers all around the world

Don’t be daft.

They might be known by gear nerds,

and maybe ‘known of’ by bass players who hang about on internet forums… but I couldn’t tell you why they were good like funkle’s video…

but general bass players? Nah

last month a bass player asked if I had heard of that obscure make ‘Cort’ that he had just found a bass he was interested in.

I like the title just fine. 😁

Same. Great video. I think mine appears once or twice?

Definitely a 'well kept secret' in comparison to other top end brands.

Yep, it's easy to assume a lot more knowledge than is the case

Reminds me of when I used to gig my old 4003, the bass player from one of the other bands on the bill, probably in his mid-40s, came up in the break and said "What an amazing looking bass, I've never seen one like that before". "Mate, are you seriously telling me you've never seen Paul McCartney, Lemmy, Bruce Foxton, Chris Squire, Geddy Lee, any of those guys, playing one of these?' "No, sorry, and who were those last three......?" I kinda wish I was in that 'Just play my own bass in a band whose music I like blissfully unaware of all the other stuff' space, it would be so much cheaper :)

You just know this instrument is going to sound epic. Marcus Miller tribute. No idea how many he made.

Didn’t one of these pass through the forum a long time ago?

edit: found it

I've always loved these 6 string Celinders. .

They are very solid solid solid basses with the best B! often comes in 36 and still being real smoth, for me the 36 scale length is kind of signature for the Custom model

They go "quite"cheap compared to what you get, The Jazzman Update/ Classic & P's are the most sought out of the Celinder family and also the most cash'y resale value

Although I know I wouldn't use it because of the 70's pickup spacing, I do miss the Skarbee bass I had years ago. Almost bought the ocean turquoise Classic that is for sale on this very forum. But I needed a fiver.

But that Skarbee bass... What a bass. What a neck. I've never experienced such a low action on a bass.

I owned too, sold it, dont miss it.  I found it a bit brittle. I think the neck was too stiff.
