Sean Hurley

If anyone is a fan of Sean this is a definite must to watch, he’s the only non reggae bassist I follow, it’s fairly long but well worth the time, I’m not familiar with the tracks but he breaks down how he played the basslines and the chord structures , such great knowledge

I've literally just come from watching this, what a great video, so warm and friendly. I think my favourite line was, "Are you swinging with the band or playing the ink?" or words to that effect. So much you can take away from that video and use in your own approach to playing. An absolute highlight for @devinebass's and Ian's (is he a member here too?) YT content.

I love Shaun, seems like a genuinely nice human with some incredible insights into playing.

There was a lovely bit in this latest interview where he was saying that he just wants to be involved in great music and that he wasn’t as expensive as people thought.

I think I’ve watched most videos of him on YouTube now, I can’t say I like all the music but I find watching him play and listening what he has to say really interesting, his playing style and technique is amazing

Another really great video here that’s worth watching, really like the groove at 50.40 , wonderful playing and sound

The bouncy groove and rich tone on 'Everything You Want' (01:46:47) is great!

Watching the longer video had me checking out John Mayer.

I’ll admit to knowing very little about him, as an artist, except for the Pino connection.

Listened to ‘Born And Raised’ - liked it. Not sure where to go next……

Born & Raised wasn't typical JM. Continuum and Battle Studies are my 2 favourite albums of his (I have a few others too, but those 2 are top).

Same here, it’s not what I would normally be listening to but looking into Sean more closely I’ve ended up liking some of JM’s music

I think he’s much bigger in the US……I read that he was a kind of Ed Sheeran in the early days, became more ‘serious’ on his 3rd album.

Also read about some spicy tabloid stuff, which seemingly put some people off of him.

I listened to B&R with a clear mind, and to me, it was a very good listen. And he seems to surround himself with some amazing players, which must give him some credibility.
