Buying online from a private buyer

Personally i wouldn't have a problem with it at all. Ive bought and sold dozens of basses on ebay/adverts/Craigslist over the years and with technology today you can get a good idea of the bass. 

 

If a BC member was willing to check something out and help get it to me, that would virtually eliminate any reservations i might have had. 

 

I've done it for a member here and had no reservations doing so. I made it clear i would check the purchase out and get it to them but any issues would not be able to be resolved as im in ireland and i shipped to your man in the UK. And it was a fairly expensive item. Was just a bit of paperwork and time.
