bassace97
Just seen this in a thread on TB, looks like Thomann let slip that there is a new version of the Cali76 Compact Bass on the way. Fixes all the (very minor) gripes I have with mine, being its a bit too tall and the metering was rather basic. I'd imagine it will sound the same though. jimbobothy
… we’ll probably see the used prices of the V1 drop somewhat now. Tbh I have wondered why they sell for so near the new price, at least they’ll probably be less expensive now.
Ian McFly
Speaking of which, I’ll probably sell my V1 when the V2 is available. It ticks all the boxes for me.

That's also my case, but I don't think I can justify spending that money to fix those two minor gripes.
fretmeister
I had a V1 and for the life of me I could not dial it in to stop a really obvious dip and swell of the note when using high output pickups. It was fine on a good old P bass, but on my EMG equipped basses - where I have the pickups about 1mm from the string when fretted at the last fret - it just couldn't cope at all.
Ian McFly
It’s known to work wonders with passive basses, not as much with active ones. Design flaw? I don’t know but I’m fine with it

That only happened to me once, when I used it at 9V. At 18V I use it now with active and hot output basses and I never have a problem.

mattpbass
Cheers for the heads up, ordered for delivery tomorrow, straight swap on my board for the V1, it’s all about that metering for me, sure it will sound basically the same.
lee650
Please let us know, if there's a difference in sound. They are saying in the marketing that it sounds nearer the big box cali. I love my FEA Optifet but ive been tempted to switch back to the cali for a brighter sound, so this is tempting.
mattpbass
Will do, I’m not expecting much difference but we’ll see. Interesting that it’s now 9V only, must remember to switch down from 18V on the power supply!

Kev
Can't help but be disappointed that the two new products were just revamps! Find it a bit odd they bigged it up...

I already have the predecessor, but this one's got some extra flashing lights!

mattpbass
First impressions, it feels quite dinky after being used to old one! Seems about as tall and wide but length is quite a bit smaller. Metering is so much more useful than the crappy old jewel light, makes seeing what's happening so much easier. Plus will be fun to see the lights bouncing around on stage! 😆 Sound wise I'm not hearing (nor was I expecting) much difference but that's only after a quick play on my desk, will gig it this weekend and see how it behaves. 6
walshy
Im waiting patiently for the courier to deliver mine. If its as good as the CB that'll do for me with the added metering 👌
mattpbass
First live use tonight, probably psychological but everything felt a bit punchier, must be the bouncy lights. 😂 3
ezbass
I keep telling myself that I’m completely happy with my MXR M87 and I am, but the new upgrades on the Cali are proving a good argument for a big upgrade.

You know you want to! It’s fantastic ! I’ve had the MXR M87 before and this definitely trumps it! 1

Apparently does sound a bit different according to Bass The World’s Gregor.
