It's all about the range darling. Baritones don't go that low. And, despite the best efforts of most Youtube demos, the VI makes for a fine bass guitar, in the right circumstances (ignore the chap miming). 1 Quote
Maude Posted April 13, 2024 Posted April 13, 2024 Quite possibly the worst looking finish any manufacturer has ever come up with. Absolutely the most hideous colour combo burst, and then replicating it on the pickguard is another level of foul. Like watching someone be sick, and then eat it again. It's not for me, if you were wondering. 😁 2 4 Quote

StingRayBoy42 Posted April 14, 2024 Posted April 14, 2024 I love anything that's a hideous colour, but that's too much for me. "Pub toilet" is bang on. I do like block markers though! 1 Quote

uk_lefty Posted April 14, 2024 Posted April 14, 2024 In seriousness I always thought the Antigua finish had a green hue to it, not this weird khaki brown. I like the original Antigua, but if I had one of these I'd get a custom pickguard made that features chunks of carrot, urinal cakes and cigarette butts. 1 Quote
police squad Posted April 14, 2024 Posted April 14, 2024 the blocks spoil it for me, shame really as I could find room for a bass VI Quote

nige1968 Posted April 15, 2024 Posted April 15, 2024 Finish seems to have a faded look compared to the greyer NOS Mexican ones they did a few years back. Hate Marmite. Love Antigua. Give us a Jazz with a dark fretboard and pale blocks/binding and I'll be, as they say, all over it. This is only my opinion, of course; but then, it is the right one. Quote
Highfox Posted April 15, 2024 Posted April 15, 2024 How do you think these newer CV'S will be for quality, any thoughts? I'm almost sure I want the pub stained toilet P-bass Read mixed reviews online for the 70's CV's. Anyone got one? I do own a CV 50's P which is ok and stable, but I did pick that up for under €300 new. Quote

I don't worry about it, personally - some will be great, some will be not so great and you won't know until you have it in your hands. Roll the dice! 3 Quote
Highfox Posted April 17, 2024 Posted April 17, 2024 I ordered The P bass Looks like October for incoming. Gives me a chance to get rid of a couple I'm not using in the meantime. Will report back. 4 Quote
Sibob Posted April 18, 2024 Posted April 18, 2024 (edited) The worst part about these are the inappropriate block inlays on the Precision! Unforgivable haha! They did it on the Mocha P too, come on Squier! FWIW, I love Antigua 😁 Si Edited April 18, 2024 by Sibob Quote

Geek99 Posted October 17, 2024 Posted October 17, 2024 I’m okay with the old greenish version, this colour not so much Quote
Highfox Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 The P bass has landed. First impression are very good. Fit and finish seem to be spot on, out of the box it was setup better than a lot of the Fenders I have bought. Weight is ok. Tone and volume pots fully function. Everything seems good so far on this. 7 Quote
synthaside Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 Love it ..... i'd be popping a black scratchplate on it if I were getting one .... and I am now actively considering it Quote
