I made a thing - Amp Stand

Ok so my GK MB112II combo is loud. Weirdly loud for such a small unit. But when I’ve taken it out the house it’s too small to be able to hear it properly as it’s firing along the floor. 
So I bought an amp stand. Which didn’t work as it was designed for a guitar amp which is shallower. There might be better ones which work better for my amp but I didn’t have time to find one as I needed one for last night. 
So I bought a £9 bit of wood, 22mm x 144mm by 1800mm and made one. 
I cut a 90 degree angle in 2 identical length at the same time so each side was identical, then braced it together with various bits of wood until I got bored. I just tried to get the biggest tilt on the amp with the 144mm wood width - no audio science here. The width is determined by the space inbetween the (rather large) amp feet. Glued and screwed together and sanded all over and it was done. 
So the amp fires at me direct when it’s maybe 2m away approximately, it’s super solid and quite light and easy to pack away with my other gear. 
I might varnish it, I might not! 
Anyway, I’ve not seen anyone else with something like this or even seen one for sale (I didn’t really look to be honest I just needed a solution fast!) but it works perfectly and costs so little!!

if you need something like this have a go at making it yourself, it’s not hard and doesn’t need any special tools.

Gator do a wood amp stand - here. Your's looks much more giggable as its sturdier, looks better and also more compact that the Gator one. Probably lighter as well. Yours was £9 plus time, theirs is £108 plus shipping! No contest, you win 👍 You probably should get geared up for the projected incoming orders 👍🤣 Well done!

I don’t think it affected the sound, more it pointed it the right way, but it did sound great to be honest.

Was rock solid too.

I honestly hadn’t seen that - it wouldn’t work with my amp anyway as the stand is too shallow. 
Looks a bit naff too IMHO

I can maybe make one for others if they want one. The standard of this one wasn’t my best work, I wanted to make it out of oak but my normal wood shop has stopped sells shorter lengths so I just got some basic wood from Wickes. 
I only had a day to make it while I was WFH in my lunchtime!!!

 I will weigh mine, hang on. 
EDIT - 1350g. It’s not as big as that Gator one though.

The wood has a nice grain to it. It calls to me for a dark stain and a coat of protective varnish.

Bit O/T, soz, but someone really needs to invent one of these with an attached platform for a separate amp head.

 

Anyway, your thing looks lovely, for what it's worth coming from a secondary school woodwork failure such as wot I is.

I was taking the same. I could make a reverse one to fit on top of the cabinet to hold the head BUT it would suffer from vibration issues and it would have to be carefully made to suit both the cab and the head. If it’s a small class D head it’s probably be better to just Velcro it to the top of the cab.

I prefer to use a hardwood they are easier to work with.

Ikea used to do a laptop stand which is similar to what would be needed - a downward lip at the front to hook over the cab front and an upward lip at the back to rest the back of the amp on. The upward lip would need some surgery to accommodate any cables that needed to go through the amp rear. I don't think the Ikea stand would do the job, although I use one to tilt my combo.
