This one hurts but it has to be done…

I’m selling my Rickenbacker 4003s in walnut.

Immaculate condition with Ric hard case and all the bits and pieces.

Bought new by me from Hot Rox in Nottingham in early 2019.

Available for collection from Nottingham or local delivery/meet within an hour or so from Nottingham.

This is part of a major clearout so no trades I’m afraid. Scammers abound, sadly, so I’d prefer not to ship and would rather meet to hand over in person. Please PM to discuss options - if I do agree to ship it’s at the buyer’s expense, UK only and only to established BC members with positive feedback.

I’m lucky enough to have two Ricks - this and a 2010 4003 - and this is by far the nicer bass to play! No sticky neck, the finish is flawless, the body edges are comfortable and it’s a nice light weight. It also has my (not) patented thumb rest (which can be removed and the original pick guard screws put back). So why am I selling this one and not the 4003? Sentimental reasons - the 4003 was bought for me by my dear wife and I’ll be buried with it!

Thanks for looking please PM with any questions.

Thanks for the positive comments, chaps. I won’t lie, I really don’t want to sell this but I just can’t justify three basses when I’m not gigging any more.

I keep thinking that maybe I should keep the two Rics, put flats on one and rounds on the other and then sell my Fender Jazz - but I’ve gigged that loads and I love the growl it has when you really dig in…..plus, it’s one of a quite limited USA FSR run they did a few years back, a few of which were signed for a laugh by the production manager so it’s a bit of a rarity and I quite like that about it. Plus, did i mention that growl?

Honestly, this is like trying to decide which hand to cut off…..

You have 3 hands? 😱

I wish I had bought the walnut 4003s when I bought my all maple, fireglo - loved the tone, hated the weight. Someone is going to buy a great bass here.

No, but I have been called Clever Dick before now 😂

The 4003 has to stay so the toss up is between the 4003s and the Jazz.

I might list the Jazz as well and let the market decide 😁

Loving the (not) patented thumb rest.

As you've said, the Jazz is a bit of a rarity, and if it has that growl, it's a keeper. As much as I love a 4003, a good jazz is a good jazz.
