PaulThePlug Posted April 26, 2024 Posted April 26, 2024 With the ease of returns to Amazon... if i were in the market, I'd order 2, keep the preferred, and return tother. 1 Quote
MartinB Posted May 1, 2024 Posted May 1, 2024 Can't find a single review of these anywhere yet. Come on, you lot - someone needs to buy one and report back! The Strats are allegedly anywhere between 6.6lb and > 10lb 😮 Quote

Some people have higher standards, and applying those without the context of the price point seems meaningless. Quote
Russ Posted August 30, 2024 Posted August 30, 2024 EBMM are getting in on the super-cheapo market too, with the "intro series" Stingrays. They're going to be US$250. https://www.notreble.com/buzz/2024/08/20/sterling-by-music-man-launches-the-intro-series-stingray-bass/ Quote

MartinB Posted August 30, 2024 Posted August 30, 2024 (edited) I was looking at a Debut as a modding base, but I ended up going for a Sonic instead (£30 more), because the average weights of the Sonics seemed to be lower. Mine came in at 8lb 11oz; not a boat anchor but more than I was expecting. Now that I've hacked a cavity in it big enough for a MM-type pickup, and some weight relief holes under the scratchplate, it's 8lb 4oz, and I should be able to get it down to 8lb with lightweight tuners. Spent about £230 in total so far. Proper alnico pickup and 2-band Stingray pre-amp circuit. Definitely better value than those new passive ceramic pickup Sterlings at £349 Edited August 30, 2024 by MartinB Typo Quote
PinkMohawk Posted September 1, 2024 Posted September 1, 2024 Having looked at the listing on Amazon, it seems like part of the price is from the digital lessons package they include with the bass, and apparently the body is thinned down from the usual to save even more weight. 100% a first bass type deal, which for the money, isn't a bad thing I don't think. Quality dependant, of course. Quote
jd56hawk Posted September 11, 2024 Posted September 11, 2024 Someone said they looked like they're painted with house paint. 1 Quote

lemmywinks Posted September 11, 2024 Posted September 11, 2024 Saw this video recently where someone was converting a Squier P and Strat into a doubleneck, when he chopped part of the bass body off it revealed a sizeable void in the wood, kinda put me off the cheaper Squiers Quote
