I am in love with that tone, and was wondering if anyone on here could give me tips on how to obtain such tone? My gear is a Line6 Bass PODXT going into a PA speaker. All tips welcome! Dread Bass
Ah behemoth check your eq. to get a sound like this the first step is to flaten your eq and boost your low mids. Infact read this thread on talkbass: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=378173 There is a bit of overdrive in their so set your pod to a tube head setting. Dood
Mhh..well, if the MB controls are anything to go by, the VLE and VPF controls will scoop out the middle, boost the bass smooth off the top end.. but I reckon there is plenty of bite in those EMGs! Looks like his four string is a 5 string without the G (if that makes sense) and then tuned down a tone ;o)

Or is that not possible?
Some how it's possible I'm sure! - Whilst I'm at it.. I'm after the settings from the XT default 'Classic Rock' patch... or is it Rock Classic? I'm not sure! - I read that Beyon Bruta used an XT to record with and used said patch with very little tweaking. Sadly, the settings arent the same on the X3.. could you note them for me? I'll see what I can do about the X3>XT.. However, I reckon a scoopy bass amp sound .. and maybe try out the 8x10 cab as a starter. - Drop the bass down a tone as the tuning will naturally lend a hand at that burpy tone. JackLondon
Knowing him the strings are wiped with surgical spirit before recording the bass lines
Dood
I found this, if it's of any use? That would suggest the Ampeg 8x10 'tone' I thought of when I heard the track. dannybuoy
That was one of those Warwick Vampyre basses in the for sale section a while back too, not sure if it's still there. It looks awesome, but would look silly in anything but a metal band!
Randy_Marsh
That was one of those Warwick Vampyre basses
think its an ESP. Looks like a Tom Araya sig but not too sure. He's got quite a similar sound to the bassist from As Blood Runs Black, but a lot fatter
ARGH
What Dood is saying....They are either EMG or Barts..but knowing Metal its EMGs in there Its an ESP/Ltd Bass...and thats the neck P/U...or rather (given the 2 octave neck) a mid P/U...solo'd....a bit of Amp cranked as DI,with maybe a line out for grunt through something... The strings look as if they are Coated..could be DRs..But Im not a Behemoth fan...How many companies are making 'Black' strings?? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNBixcsaOF0...feature=related This was one of my Fave Black Metal tones...B-War (Yes his stage name is typical NEKKRO!!) Gibson T-bird or Ricky into a Metalzone.

Saw the lad from Choasanct play summat like that last night...seemed ok...
