Dov65 Posted May 10, 2024 Posted May 10, 2024 Something I’m just wondering about here. My Stingray has an earth wire going to the underside of the bridge where my Spector Euro doesn’t….both are active with an East in the Ray & an EMG BTS in the Euro. I always thought an active bass didn’t need this wire Quote
MartinB Posted May 10, 2024 Posted May 10, 2024 Is one a bass with active pickups, and the other a bass with passive pickups and an onboard pre-amp? Quote
Dov65 Posted May 11, 2024 Author Posted May 11, 2024 Aye could be the answer right enough, Euro has active pickups & the Ray’s pickup is passive Quote
Doctor J Posted May 11, 2024 Posted May 11, 2024 EMG pickups don't need to be earthed. Not sure if that applies to all active pickups, however. Quote
geoham Posted May 13, 2024 Posted May 13, 2024 I think the above answers are correct. Any active bass I've had has been passive pickups and an active preamp - and they've always had the earth wire to the bridge. Quote
