Geek99 Posted May 13, 2024 Posted May 13, 2024 I have a tc electronic bh250 - can anyone steer me to the best type of cab for this? home use, occasional OM /co~play use TYIA Quote
Downunderwonder Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 What on Earth is OM / co play? Sounds like dressing up as a guru to play bass to the dog and cat. Quote
skidder652003 Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 Open Mic. A barefaced one ten would be an excellent pairing https://barefacedaudio.com/products/one_10 3 Quote

Geek99 Posted May 14, 2024 Author Posted May 14, 2024 (edited) Any general steers about ampage, power etc? not mega bucks though and thanks to @skidder652003 for his suggestion Edited May 14, 2024 by Geek99 Quote
warwickhunt Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 A little 1x10 or 1x12 cab will work for you. Don't get hung up on wattage or even ohmage, most manufacturers give half truths and sometimes even tell outright lies. A 4 ohm cab will get the most from your amp but tbh the kind of useage you intend (at the moment) it won't make a jot of difference if it is 4 or 8 ohm; an 8 ohm cab that is possibly more sensitive than a comparable 4 ohm will even things out. An 8 ohm cab choice will mean that at some point in the future you can add a 2nd 8 ohm cab. You may need to go somewhere to A/B a few cabs to find something you like the sound of... all cabs do not sound the same! 1 Quote
lemmywinks Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 There's an Eden EX112 in the classifieds: I use my BH250 with a little EA CXL110 with a Basslite driver installed, goes more than loud enough for accompaniment so any 1x10, 1x12 or 2x8 should be sufficient. A lot of people paired them with the TC BH208: https://www.thomann.de/gb/tc_electronic_bc208_bass_cab.htm? 1 Quote
tauzero Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 I use a home-made BC micro cab for open mics, paired with a Tecamp Puma 900. 3 Quote

Not a band That is how an OM session I used to play at regularly got started. After a couple of years of me adding bass we had full band jams, sometimes with multiple percussionists (minus drum set). Sadly Covid did it in. Point being, an extra cab can come in handy, mostly for the extra height, unless actual drumset shows up. Quote
Geek99 Posted May 27, 2024 Author Posted May 27, 2024 If I connect this to an 8ohm cabinet do I get an effective 125w ? buying a 2 x 8” tc can at 8ohm rated 250w Quote
Downunderwonder Posted May 27, 2024 Posted May 27, 2024 More likely 2/3 of 4 ohm rating. I doubt a 2x8 is going to impress though. A pair of them would start to boogie. 1 Quote
Geek99 Posted May 27, 2024 Author Posted May 27, 2024 (edited) I play at home, quietly, when kids in bed. It’s not a huge issue it will daisy chain though, I checked Edited May 27, 2024 by Geek99 Quote
Dan Dare Posted May 29, 2024 Posted May 29, 2024 If you play at home quietly when the kids are asleep, a decent pair of headphones would be a good choice and no risk of waking the rest of the household if you get a little too enthusiastic. Quote
Geek99 Posted May 29, 2024 Author Posted May 29, 2024 I also play bass to help daughter keep time in guitar lessons its needed, damnit 1 Quote
