cetera Posted May 15, 2024 Posted May 15, 2024 5 string USA model: https://reverb.com/item/82077753-spector-usa-custom-shop-ltd-5-string-doug-wimbish-true-champagne-gloss 4 string USA model: https://reverb.com/uk/item/82183825-spector-usa-custom-shop-ltd-4-string-doug-wimbish-true-champagne-gloss I quite like that colour. Spector just need to release a 'pearl' white (affordable) Euro 'Rachel Bolan' sig model now...... 2 Quote

I think the main problem I see with these is that I've never - from a Spector perspective - seen him playing anything except the honeyburst(?) PJ and JJ models. He's not associated with anything that looks like that. 3 Quote
Doctor J Posted May 15, 2024 Posted May 15, 2024 His natural but odd looking 5 string JJ was trans blue but faded over the years. I think the Wimbish tag is just a means for them to charge a grand extra for the slimmer nut, to be honest. The Wimbish LX models are massively overpriced compared to a regular LX for what is basically the same bass aside from nut width. 1 Quote

bloke_zero Posted September 11, 2024 Posted September 11, 2024 Didn't want to start another thread - looks like he's playing one of these here? Amber stain https://www.instagram.com/reel/C_QXCjsuSOJ/ 1 Quote
woolf Posted September 11, 2024 Posted September 11, 2024 How can you tell that’s not his original Spector? Also, can someone point me in the direction of a video clip where Doug plays a more typical lower-register bass groove? Every clip I’ve seen seems to be this wild-effects solo stuff… Quote
meterman Posted September 11, 2024 Posted September 11, 2024 Tackhead? He wasn't doing too much freaky dusty-end stuff when I saw him playing with them. Them Spectors though. Crazy money for horrible looking basses 😂 1 1 Quote
Delberthot Posted September 11, 2024 Posted September 11, 2024 Not sure if a video exists but Doug played on Mick Jagger's track "Sweet Thing" Now there's a low register groove 1 Quote
