I remember seeing them at the naval club in tonypandy - 1988 at a guess. Rocky ran down the tables, knocking loads of people's drinks over in the process. He was taught some manners come load out time apparently. They also didnt have enough material to fill their slot and were ordered back on stage, where they played an awful 12 bar for about 10 mins. It was, oddly, a really fun gig

He was taught some manners come load out time apparently. I would have been interested to see how that played out. Rocky was apparently a martial arts teacher and by all accounts could seriously handle himself! I played a gig supporting him once in a packed big club in Brum about that tie (87 or 88 or so). We stormed it, great reception, and were changing in a room behind the bar when Wrathchild took the stage with a pretty impressive percussive boom as their first salvo of pyro went off. Ten minutes later, our sound engineer came backstage to say you've got to come and see this! The bass player had a cut below his eye, where someone had thrown a bottle at him and the dancefloor in front of the stage had cleared. At some point in a song, the guitarist took what we shall charitably call a 'guitar solo', when Rocky hopped off the stage and went up to some guy who had been yelling insults at them, dropped him with one punch, then jumped back onstage to continue singing and throwing shapes, etc! Good times... Edited May 24 by peteb

I met Patricia Morrison in High Wycombe in 2000 when she was playing with The Damned. She very kindly signed my copy of Floodland and we talked for a few minutes before I shuffled off, tongue-tied. They wiped the floor with them. I was on their mailing list for years and was the happy recipient of stickers, photographs, Christmas cards and even an old demo tape. They were great and terrific fun to see live. When Rocky yelled "I wanna lick custard off your nipples!" during "C0ck Rock Shock," I laughed so hard, I hurt myself a bit. I loved Wrathchild.
