OldGit
Hi all I've seen a few mock-up pictures in the build diaries and I'd like to get one for my new project. Is it all photoshop or is there an easier way? Cheers
paul h
Build something that looks exactly like an existing bass and then google for "mock-up" images. Photoshop.

Noisyjon
In my case I printed off loads of pictures from Fender's website (all the same size pics you see) and made an old fashioned collage which was then scanned. Ancient and old school I know but it took me back to my yoof! JTB

paul h
Just for you.... When the geezer selected the pixels around the body shape, and then deleted that from the walnut image he is stuck with it. If he wanted to subtlety change the body shape he would have to import the walnut image again. However, if he used the selection, or better still the original line paths and turned them into a vector/layer mask it would keep the entire walnut image intact, but just hide the bits you don't want to see. I may well be tempted to a quick tutorial myself.... or maybe not. P.
paul h
Okay, get yer wood out. [attachment=25470:layer_mask_01_copy.jpg] Make a selection of the bit you want to keep....body shape, headstock etc. [attachment=25471:layer_mask_02_copy.jpg] Press the layer mask button. [attachment=25472:layer_mask_03_copy.jpg] Hey presto. It's even better if you use the path tool.

But it's what I call it that counts.
Golchen
I'm pretty good with photoshop, but then I do use it for my job. I was considering getting my Status upgraded by Sims, so I did a mock-up of what I wanted. These are my before/after pictures:

Just have the wood in a layer above the body shape, right click and choose "Create clipping mask". The body layer will be used as a mask for the wood and you can move the wood layer about like normal – which allows you to play about with the grain pattern etc.
