dave74200 Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 Good day, I bought a p bass from ebay that was put together by Geoff Banks, the guitar tech of AC/DC. He gave it to Cliff, who used it in the Play Ball video and posed with it on the cover of Bass Player Magazine. My question is, does this make it worth anymore as I have no certification or proof, aside some photos? I don't want to sell it but just wondered. Thanks in advance, Dai. 1 Quote
asingardenof Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 Without any of that provenance evidence then probably not, but if it makes it worth more to you then who cares what everyone else thinks. 1 Quote
Jean-Luc Pickguard Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 if you have the magazine and the bass is distinctive enough - ie it has a distinctive grain pattern that is visible in the photo, it might serve as proof, but a letter from Geoff or Cliff with details would add more weight to the proof Quote
GuyR Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 A lot of Geoff Banks instruments were sold at Gardiner Houlgate in March 2017. I can’t post a link to the catalogue but it is in the “sale results” on their site and I would be surprised if your bass is not there. As to whether it is worth more money, based on the prices raised at that auction, I would say not a significant increase. 1 Quote
Lozz196 Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 Uber cool, would love to know that Cliff had owned one of my basses. Quote
